Chablis 2024 by Allen Meadows

2024 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru | 91-94

(from a 2.5 ha parcel of 35+ year old vines – two thirds of the blend is from Chapelot, and the remainder is from Pied d’Aloup and Montee de Tonnerre proper; the Pied d’Aloup vines were lanted in 1935; 100% stainless). A cool, airy and beautifully elegant nose freely offers up its array of lemon confit, acacia blossom and a plenty of classic Chablis elements and in particular iodine. The refined mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is very much in keeping with the elegance of the nose with a prominent bead of minerality adding a ense of lift to the long, balanced and refreshingly dry finale. This is excellent and one to consider.

2024 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru | 90-93

(only one barrel produced in 2024). Soft reduction and mildly exotic aromas precede the very rich yet nicely refined medium weight flavors that somehow manage to be both rich and borderline delicate, all wrapped in a bitter lemon zest-inflected finish. However, this definitely needs more depth so a few years of keeping are in order.
